By March 20, the Ministry of Interior received 105 alerts about violations related to the early parliamentary elections on April 19, and 43 pretrial proceedings were opened, said Vanya Nusheva, electoral matters adviser to the caretaker Prime Minister, speaking at a press conference of the Elections Coordination Council on Monday.

“The Interior Ministry has an exceptional duty to take action against any violations of voters’ political rights,” Nusheva emphasized. She noted that the Ministry operates an election task force, an official hotline, and a dedicated email address for reports of offences against citizens’ political rights.

According to Nusheva, there has been a significant increase in both the number of alerts received and pretrial proceedings organized in the context of the elections. “The high number of reports indicates increased public trust and expectations that this time the Interior Ministry will work efficiently, impartially, and will not take a merely formal approach to data on irregularities and offences against citizens’ electoral rights,” the Prime Minister’s adviser stressed.
