In a statement published on it website on Monday, the Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the missile attacks against the Ras Laffan LNG plant in Qatar, which caused significant damage to the facility. 

"We reaffirm our position that attacks against critical civilian infrastructure are unacceptable, constitute a serious violation of international law, including UN Security Council Resolution 2817, and create serious risks to the environment, as well as to regional and global security," the statement further reads.

The Ministry expresses its solidarity with Qatar and the other member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which are key partners of Bulgaria and the European Union, and emphasizes that their security is of strategic importance for global energy, economic, and food stability.

"We once again call for the immediate cessation of the attacks, for all parties to exercise restraint, to prevent further escalation, and to return to the principles of the rules-based international order," the Ministry said.

Bulgaria remains committed to working with its international partners to ensure the protection of critical infrastructure and stability in the region, the statement also says.
