Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov told reporters in Brussels on Thursday that Bulgaria needs to be moving full steam ahead in Europe, as the country supports all positions that would make the EU stronger. The Prime Minister is in Brussels to attend a meeting of the European Council, the Council of Ministers said in a press release on Thursday. The Belgian capital will host a forum for the heads of state and government of EU Member States to discuss a range of issues, including European security and competitiveness.

Commenting on the conflict in the Middle East, Gurov emphasized that neither NATO nor the EU is currently involved in it. The Prime Minister noted the need for de-escalation, finding solutions to halt military operations, and easing tensions amid high energy prices and potential migration pressure. Any actions in this direction that would help calm the situation will be supported by us, Gurov said.

The Prime Minister emphasized the government's measures to support the most vulnerable Bulgarian citizens in light of rising fuel prices. "Prices of petroleum products continue to rise. No country can fully meet these challenges, but what we are doing is targeting our support precisely at the most vulnerable groups," Gurov said. He said that the government's measures have been designed to ensure that support reaches people as quickly as possible.
