President Iliana Iotova said that she expects a more comprehensive compensation package due to rising prices. “This is only the first step. I expect a more comprehensive package if the war continues,” she told journalists regarding the caretaker government’s aid porposal. She participated in a forum on health policies, organized by the Bulgarian Medical Association (BMA).
Iotova called for the development of a full package not only in terms of fuel compensation, but also addressing rising prices in general and tackling speculation.
“No one wants the war to continue, but we must be prepared for all scenarios,” the President added.
Earlier on Wednesday, the caretaker government approved a monthly aid of EUR 20 for people with incomes twice below the poverty line if fuel prices exceed EUR 1.60 per liter.
