site.btaPM Explains Compensation for Most Vulnerable Amid Fuel Price Hikes
Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov explained on Tuesday how the government arrived at a EUR 20 compensation for the most vulnerable groups amid rising fuel prices.
In a Facebook video, Gurov said low-income households typically spend around EUR 100 per month on fuel. With recent price increases of about 20%, this rises to EUR 120. The EUR 20 compensation is intended to offset the increase, keeping household fuel costs stable.
"Twenty euro is neither too much nor too little. It is just the amount needed to support people without leaving them out of pocket," he said.
On March 15, Gurov said that people with incomes up to twice the poverty line, currently at EUR 390.63, will receive EUR 20.
