The government’s decision regarding compensation over expensive fuels is inadequate, Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov told a a press conference in Varna on Monday.
According to him, a solution should not involve taking money from the budget, because that would mean that all Bulgarians would have to pay again. Kostadinov said that the best option would be to follow the example of the United States and remove sanctions against Russia. Another option would be to temporarily reduce the excise tax on fuel, which would stop prices from rising, said Kostadinov.
Regarding the upcoming election campaign, he said that the party’s main goals will be to achieve a result that makes it an unavoidable factor in the Bulgarian legislature, as well as to increase voter turnout as much as possible.
There is no other political force besides Vazrazhdane that can present Bulgarians with a clear governing programme - by sectors, with planning and solutions, Kostadinov also said. According to him, the party’s programme will be presented on Friday. He said that the other parties do not have clear governing programmes.
Kostadinov said that the upcoming elections would be free, but not fair. According to him, a way to deal with this problem is for the party’s representatives in election commissions to be vigilant and prevent any manipulations.
Of the party’s tenure in the last legislature, Kostadinov said that its members were the most active, asked the largest number of parliamentary questions, and submitted 172 bills. He stressed that he is proud that Vazrazhdane managed to push for limiting the number of voting sections in Turkiye and for making the national register of pedophiles publicly accessible.
Kostadinov, who leads the party’s ticket in Varna, presented the other candidates in the region.
