Representatives of the Public Council with the Central Election Commission met with caretaker e-Governance Minister Georgi Sharkov and members of his political cabinet, the e-Governance Ministry said in a press release on Friday.
Members of the Public Council presented to the ministry’s new leadership the problems they had identified during the most recent parliamentary elections held on October 27, 2024. They outlined their observations and conclusions and made recommendations to the new leadership of the ministry, the press release said.
Stefan Manov of the Bulgarian Association for Fair Elections and Civil Rights said that machine voting and video surveillance had made it possible to identify a number of violations during the latest elections.
Minister Sharkov told members of the Public Council that all possible checks within the remit of the ministry are being carried out to avoid any problems that could result from the voting machines. He added that efforts are also being made to ensure that the public is properly informed about the security of machine voting.
