site.btaAcademic Year for Foreign Students Kicks Off at Medical University Pleven
The 2025/2026 academic year was officially opened with a ceremony for foreign students admitted to the English-language programmes in Medicine and Nursing at Medical University Pleven (MU-Pleven). This year, there are over 320 newly admitted foreign students from 36 countries, including India, Italy, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, Greece, Turkiye, Pakistan, Nigeria, Japan, Canada, Korea, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Morocco, and Congo.
The ceremony was led by the head of the Centre for Foreign Students, Assoc. Prof. Nadia Veleva. A welcome address on behalf of the university leadership was given by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at MU-Pleven, Assoc. Prof. Sonya Valkova. Japan’s Ambassador to Bulgaria, Chikahisa Sumi, was official guest at the ceremony. Ivan Malkodanski, the Chair of the Pleven Municipal Council, also attended the event.
The students took the Academic Oath, a symbol of their commitment to the academic values, traditions and mission of the university, as well as their respect for their teachers, colleagues and the patients' dignity.
In May 2025, 122 young healthcare experts from the 22nd class of foreigners received their diplomas at MU-Pleven.
