The Sofia District Prosecutor's Office announced on Monday, that, at their request, the Sofia District Court had remanded a UK citizen in custody for committing acts of hooliganism at Sofia's Vasil Levski International Airport.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the defendant, S.F., has been charged with committing indecent acts that grossly violated public order and showed clear disrespect for society at Sofia's Airport on February 5, 2026 between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. S.F. insulted and pushed police officers and failed to comply with orders to stop and calm down. Instead, the defendant started walking between the planes towards the apron. He was detained in a room at Terminal 2 and continued to misbehave, banging on the door, shouting and insulting police officers. S. F. kicked the door of the room and made a hole in it, causing property damage. S.F. was detained for up to 72 hours.

A pre-trial investigation is being conducted into crimes under the Penal Code, punishable by imprisonment.

The duty prosecutor filed a request with the Sofia District Court for the defendant to be detained in custody. The court imposed the most severe measure of restraint on S.F.

This decision can be appealed to the Sofia City Court.
