site.btaUPDATED Vazrazhdane Calls for New Constitution, Governance System and Refounding of State
Vazrazhdane called for a new constitution, a new system of governance, and refounding of the state in a declaration delivered from the parliamentary rostrum at the opening of the new plenary session of the 51st National Assembly.
“Our main task is to regain real, not merely formal, national sovereignty,” said Kostadin Kostadinov, chairman of the parliamentary group and of the party.
To accomplish these tasks, according to him, a review of all alliances in which Bulgaria is a member is needed, as well as a reassessment of all international treaties to which the country is a party, and, if there are unfavorable clauses, they should be renegotiated or terminated.
An overall assessment and evaluation of the actions of those in power is necessary, and accountability is the logical next step once the specific individuals responsible for Bulgaria’s “colonial dependence” have been identified; this will be done through the creation of a specialized tribunal, Kostadinov stressed. According to him, a strong Bulgaria is needed, with its own army, economy, and agriculture.
“Our unification with the Republic of North Macedonia following the model of the two Germanys, as well as the return of Southern Bessarabia to Bulgaria, is a goal that can be achieved in the next few years,” Kostadinov highlighted. “The nation, the state, and cultural identity are the three pillars of Vazrazhdane’s political agenda,” he added.
“We must not forget that our future depends solely on us, but in order to have our own sovereign future, we must know our history,” began the declaration of Revival. “In less than six years, our country will mark 1,400 years since its founding. The Bulgarian people are ancient, having endured the tests of centuries. By nature, Bulgarians are talented, hardworking, and tolerant. The Bulgarian land is beautiful and fertile. Today, however, our existence as a nation is being called into question. Attempts to destroy the legacy of communism after 1989 have led to the destruction of statehood itself,” said Kostadinov.
According to Vazrazhdane, Bulgaria is on the verge of completely losing its independence and becoming a province for anyone, and if tomorrow someone decides to take advantage of our helpless state, Bulgaria will simply cease to exist, with no one to protect us. No reaction followed from our allies, despite the fact that we are integrated into Europe, after the blatant attack on the Bulgarian embassy in Skopje, Kostadinov went on. “The only ally of Bulgaria is the Bulgarian people,” he noted.
“Bulgaria ranks first in the EU for the lowest incomes, in birth rates, and lead Europe in child mortality, we are the unhappiest nation according to studies by several international organizations, healthcare and education are destroyed, the nation is morally, spiritually, and physically declining, the administration is corrupt and incompetent, and the army has been practically destroyed. This is a defeat without a war, and all of this has been carried out by the contemporary Bulgarian political elite,” the declaration further said.
“The ideal of Vazrazhdane is to see Bulgaria as a foremost power politically, economically, and militarily - not only at the regional level but also on the continental level,” he said.
