Four people were injured during a December 12 airstrike on Odesa, the largest since the beginning of the war, said Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa Military Administration.

"According to the State Emergency Service, four people were wounded. Odesa is recovering from the largest enemy attack, which targeted energy infrastructure," Lysak said on his Telegram channel.

Damage was reported to residential buildings, including one in the historic city centre. Emergency and utility teams are working to stabilize the situation, prioritizing power supply to critical infrastructure, Lysak said.

Resilience points offering short-term shelter for 40 to 500 people have been opened for residents. Artesian wells provide drinking water until 10 pm, and water tankers deliver supplies where needed. All municipal utility services are addressing the aftermath.

According to the Odesa branch of energy operator DTEK, emergency crews inspected facilities and assessed damage immediately after the blackout. By 2 pm [on December 13], a technical solution had restored electricity to 40,000 customers. DTEK said staff across the region were working continuously to restore power to all homes, prioritizing critical infrastructure.

Bulgarians in Odesa Region number more than 150,000 and were the third largest population group in Ukraine in 2001, according to the official census. About 50,000 - 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
