site.btaWe Should Listen to the People, GERB Leader Borissov Says
GERB-UDF Floor Leader Boyko Borissov said that the Government should take into consideration what people think and only do what is approved. In an Instagram post on Wednesday, he emphasized the importance of coalition work, recalling that his party has many years of experience in governing alongside partner parties. "The coalition partners are very important to me. We have been working in coalitions for several consecutive regular governments and have developed this culture," he added.
However, he said that GERB's interests must come first. The party leader said that GERB had contributed to key national goals, including joining the Eurozone and the Schengen Area.
He pointed out that GERB would not allow itself to be pressured into making internal decisions and that whoever wants to govern needs to do so in a way that reflects the will of the people. If not, there will be early elections which are not in Bulgaria's interest.
Finally, Borissov voiced hope for greater tolerance between the country's political forces so that it can "move forward".
