Serbia's Foreign Minister Marko Djuric met with his counterpart from North Macedonia, Timco Mucunski, in Belgrade on November 25 ahead of a meeting of foreign ministers of the Central European Initiative (CEI), scheduled for November 26. Djuric stressed that the two countries support each other when it comes to progress on the European path, the Tanjug news agency reported.

The meeting took place during a gala dinner for the delegations to the CEI foreign ministerial, which will be held in the Serbian capital.

Djuric said: "There is no need for me to say how closely our two countries cooperate and how historically good our relations are, but even in this period we bear a special responsibility to strengthen both our transport links and our economic activity, engagement, and cooperation in all segments of society within the wider European agenda."

For his part, Mucunski noted: "The focus of our government is on investments in Corridor 10, and I know that your country is also working very hard to complete the entire commitment, especially regarding the railway infrastructure along Corridor 10."

He noted that North Macedonia is working on a new natural gas interconnector with Greece, but their aim is to cooperate with Serbia as well. "The goal is to reduce dependence on gas supplies from Russia and to diversify gas sources," the head of North Macedonia's diplomacy said.

Serbia chairs the CEI in 2025. Wednesday's meeting of the foreign ministers of the CEI member states will review activities from the past 12 months.

In 2026, the CEI, the longest-standing regional forum founded in 1989 and comprising 17 countries from Central, Eastern, and South-Eastern Europe, will be chaired by Romania.
