The leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning, Delyan Peevski, urged the party's representatives in local governments across Bulgaria to ensure that all local taxes and fees remain unchanged in 2026, the first year of the country's euro area membership, the party's press office reported on Tuesday.

Peevski said: "I call on all MRF representatives in local government - mayors and municipal councillors - to give people the security and predictability they need in a year of transition by doing what is necessary to keep all local taxes and fees unchanged in 2026, so as not to place an additional burden on people."

He noted: "Municipalities have always been at the centre of our policies because they are the direct link with the people. And they can always rely on our support, both in the platform for a New Beginning for Regional Development and in the National Assembly and the executive."
