Minister of Youth and Sports Ivan Peshev turned the first sod of a modern sports complex in the village of Radilovo, Peshtera Municipality, on Saturday. The project envisages the construction of a new 94/64 m football pitch with artificial turf, as well as a basketball court, a combined tennis and volleyball court, and an outdoor fitness area. Its total value is BGN 1,380,387.54 (inclusive of VAT).
Four-meter-high safety nets will be installed, linear drains will be built to drain surface water, and stands and benches for spectators will be provided.
The project is implemented with the financial support of the Sports Ministry under the Programme for Financial Support for the Construction and Renovation of Sports Facilities - State and Municipal Property 2024.
In his speech, Peshev said that in time, the children and young people of Radilovo will have the opportunity to play sports, build their character, and achieve their dreams at this venue. "Sport is not just about health and physical activity – it teaches discipline, respect, team spirit, and the pursuit of success. I am confident that the sports complex will give rise to new sporting talents," said the Sports Minister.
The event was also attended by Peshtera Mayor Yordan Mladenov, Radilovo Mayor Dimitar Danchev, and representatives of the contractor.
