Bulgaria will host the Balkan Karate Championships in 2027, it transpired following a meeting between Nikolay Tsanev, President of the Bulgarian National Karate Federation (BNFK), and Slavoljub Piper, Secretary General of the Karate Federation of Balkans, that was held in Rijeka, Croatia, on Friday.

“Thanks to the work currently being done by the BNFK leadership and the renewed contacts we have established with the World Karate Federation, the European Karate Federation, and the Karate Federation of Balkans, the BKF has decided to place its trust in us,” said BNFK President Nikolay Tsanev, adding that his discussion with Piper focused on the visible progress achieved by the BNFK over the past year, the strong results of Bulgarian karate athletes, and the federation’s efforts to restore Bulgaria’s rightful place within the global and European karate community.
