site.bta6,233 PCR Tests Confirm 1,799 New COVID-19 Cases, Bringing Bulgaria's Total to 194,271
December 23 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19
cases in Bulgaria reached 194,271 after 6,233 PCR tests
identified 1,799 new infections in the 24 hours until Tuesday
midnight, according to data posted on www.coronavirus.bg. The
test positivity rate now stands at 28.86 per cent.
Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 263 positive
tests, followed by Varna Region with 180, Plovdiv Region with
160, and Bourgas Region with 145.
A total of 1,112,161 PCR tests have been performed since the
first infections were diagnosed on March 8.
The active cases are 82,302. The infected medical staff add up
to 8,596 (2,831 doctors, 2,805 nurses, 1,237 orderlies, 200
feldshers and 1,523 other).
Currently, the hospitalized patients number 6,123, including 526
in intensive care.
Another 2,424 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24
hours, bringing the total to 105,090.
One hundred and fourteen more fatalities were reported, and the
death toll now totals 6,879. RY/LG
