site.btaCustoms Agency Names New Acting Director in Plovdiv

Bulgarian Customs Agency Director Nikolay Shushkov visited the agency's Territorial Directorate in Plovdiv Thursday, where he introduced Alexander Dimitrov as its new acting director, the Customs Agency said.

Dimitrov, who has more than 26 years of experience in customs administration, began his career as a customs inspector and has held various management positions, including head of Bulgaria's largest customs office, Sofia Zapad (west), and director of the Varna Customs Territorial Directorate. His most recent position was state inspector at the Kalotina Customs Point.

The previous director of the Plovdiv directorate, Miroslav Belyashki, was arrested in late April 2025 during a police operation and has been charged with exceeding his authority by taking actions outside the territorial jurisdiction of his office.

A preliminary hearing in his case is scheduled for September 25 at the Haskovo District Court. Belyashki is currently free on bail.
