The sixth Burgas International Swimming Marathon took place at Burgas' North Beach on Monday, bringing together 204 amateur and competitive swimmers in the 500 m and 1,000 m races.
In the men's competition, Aleksandar Bozhilov claimed victory in both the 500 m and 1,000 m events. In the women's races, Aleksandra Altanova won the 1,000 m, while Iliyana Govedarska finished first in the 500 m.
"I'm proud that we've successfully organized this major event for six consecutive years. Moving the marathon to North Beach proved to be the right decision," said chief organizer Tsanko Tsankov, who is preparing for his upcoming English Channel swim from England to France in August.
The event officially opened with a congratulatory message from Bulgaria's Youth and Sports Minister Encho Keryazov, while Burgas Deputy Mayor Manol Todorov gave the starting signal for the 500 m race.
