The Environmental Impact Assessment report on the proposed wind farm in the protected Natura 2000 Krumovitsa Protected Area near Krumovgrad was rejected Monday, Director of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water in Haskovo Tonka Atanasova said.

Atanasova pointed out that additional opinions will be sought on the proposed wind farm, including from the Krumovgrad Municipality, who is an interested party in the project. The approval process will remain on hold until then.

The announcement was made following a protest by environmentalist held earlier on Monday against plans to build a wind farm in the Natura 2000 protected Krumovitsa area.
