site.btaPublic Consultation Begins on Revision of FSC National Forest Management Standard

Sofia, November 2 (BTA) - WWF Bulgaria said a revision of the country's Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) National Forest Management Standard is subject to public consultation until the year's end. Suggestions and comments can be sent to fcic@wwf.bg.

The revision, including the final changes, is expected to be completed by the end of March 2022.

The national FSC standard applies to the whole of the country's territory and to all forestry farms seeking FSC certification. The standard has been effective as of August 16, 2017. It was elaborated between August 2014 and October 2016 on a consensual basis by a national working group. The standard was approved in October 2016 by the FSC's Policy and Standards Committee and is subject to revision five years after publication.

This last spring WWF Bulgaria and the national working group drew up a report on the changes that should become part of the new version of the standard. The application for revision was approved by the FSC Policy and Standards Committee in late July and technical experts have been working on changes in some of the current criteria and indicators in the autumn.
