Sliven (February 19, 2026) A public discussion marking the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising is being held at the National Press Club of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) in Sliven. The event is part of a joint initiative by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), the Bulgarian National Television (BNT), and the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), titled “14 Centuries Bulgaria,” which commemorates anniversaries in Bulgarian history of significance to Europe’s shared history in the years leading up to 2032, when 1,400 years will mark the establishment of the first Bulgarian state formation on European territory – Old Great Bulgaria. The city of Sliven is hosting the event on the anniversary of the outbreak of the April Uprising, as it was the centre of one of the uprising’s revolutionary districts.
