The 4th Plovdiv Science Festival will take place from October 22 to 25, organizers said on Thursday.

The festival will be held at the Centre of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology and the Plovdiv Drama Theatre, with more than 60 scientists, engineers and experts expected to engage audiences of all ages through talks, workshops, science shows and, for the first time, a science theatre performance. Guests will include New Zealand scientist Dr. Aakanksha Kanojia, British paleontologist Dr. Michael Sandy and Irish science communicator Niamh Shaw, attending in partnership with the Irish Embassy.

The main programme includes activities for the whole family, while the first two days will feature a school programme with workshops for students and teachers. This year’s events will also feature stronger links between science and culture. Visitors can also explore interactive science stands, experiments, four exhibitions covering Antarctica, Polish inventions and space exploration, and the work of young polar researchers. A festival bookshop and a team of 30 young volunteers will round out the event.

The festival is organized by the Beautiful Science Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Plovdiv 2019 Foundation, alongside numerous educational, scientific and media partners.
