site.btaBulgarian Innovation Hub Joins European Consortium Launching Cyber Resilience Platform for Small, Medium Enterprises

A European consortium launched a free, open-source platform on Friday to help European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) comply with the EU Cyber Resilience Act, the consortium told BTA.

The consortium includes Bulgaria's Digital Innovation Hub Trakia. The platform is called Open Source Cybersecurity Resilience Act Tools (OSCRAT).

The Cyber Resilience Act entered into force on December 10, 2024, and its main obligations will apply from December 11, 2027. Reporting requirements concerning vulnerabilities and serious incidents affecting products with digital elements, including software and hardware, take effect on Friday, September 11, 2026.

The platform provides tools for managing legal assessments, cybersecurity risks, software component specifications, vulnerabilities, incidents and compliance documentation, its creators said.

The consortium said OSCRAT addressed a key challenge for European SMEs: turning increasingly complex cybersecurity obligations into manageable daily processes with fewer resources than larger organizations. The platform translates the Cyber Resilience Act's requirements into practical workflows, it added.

The European Commission funds OSCRAT's development through the Digital Europe programme. Alongside Digital Innovation Hub Trakia, the consortium includes Italian company PMF Research, Poland's Lukasiewicz Research Network, Romanian companies Oves Enterprise and Enersec, and Estonian developer Unicis.Tech.
