Bulgarian-born Dimitre Dinev is among the ten authors nominated for the 2025 Austrian Book Prize (Osterreichischer Buchpreis), the Austria Press Agency reported. The longlist, announced on Wednesday, includes Dinev's novel Zeit der Mutigen, as well as books by Martin Prinz, Kaska Bryla, Michael Donhauser, Hanno Millesi, Verena Stauffer, Monika Helfer, Wolf Haas, Marlene Streeruwitz, and Andrea Winkler.
The shortlist will be announced on October 9. The tenth award ceremony will take place on November 10.
Dinev was born in Plovdiv, South Central Bulgaria, in 1968. He settled in Austria in 1990. He has won numerous literary awards in Germany and Austria for his screenplays and books.
The Austrian Book Prize comes with a cash prize of EUR 20,000. The debut prize is worth EUR 10,000. All nominees will receive at least EUR 2,500.
