In the Taraclia district, the first school bell heralded the start of the school year for more than 3,200 students. In 2025, eleven first grades with a total of 267 first graders were opened in schools in the district, where the population is predominantly Bulgarian. Ceremonial assemblies (line-ups) were held in all high schools and gymnasiums in the district, Lilia Sarsaman, acting head of the Education Department, confirmed to BTA.

The celebration for the first day of school, September 1, brought together students, teachers, parents, as well as representatives of local authorities and the education department. The national anthem, congratulatory speeches, songs, and poems were heard in schoolyards, and first-graders and high school graduates experienced the start of the new school year together.

Sarsaman noted that the beginning of September is not only a celebration of knowledge, but also a time for new challenges for the education system. She specified that there are many plans and that the goal is to maintain the high level already demonstrated by high school students (grades 10-12) so that all six high schools finish the year with a 100% success rate.

Sarsaman explained that, during this school year, special attention will be paid to the quality of knowledge and the results of students after completing the high school cycle (grades 5–9). The introduction of individual educational plans continues in schools, and multilingual education is a key priority. Sarsaman explained that the number of Bulgarian and Romanian language classes will increase, and some subjects will be taught in Bulgarian or English. This will give a new impetus to the development of students and raise their educational level, she pointed out.
