“Bulgaria, in the field of technology and even in artificial intelligence, is further ahead than expected. We, as scientists, are always ahead of the times, we overcome challenges and are often well prepared for them,” Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Evelina Slavcheva.

She took part in a panel called "New Knowledge in the Media" at the 20th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media in Sofia, hosted by BTA. In her remarks, Slavcheva focused on the role of science and scientists in modern society, especially in the context of new technologies and artificial intelligence.

"New technologies, as is the topic of this panel, are undoubtedly an achievement - first of scientists, and then of a whole series of people who evaluate them, implement them, use them, including to create new knowledge and new professions, new industries," said Slavcheva.

She underscored that Bulgarians have every reason to be proud of the achievements in Bulgarian science. "Our science is at a good European level. The reason for this is that Bulgarian scientists have traditions and are dedicated to their profession, as well as all representatives of the spiritual sphere. I not only believe, but we also know that in recent years we have the opportunity not only to create knowledge with our minds, but also to use the new achievements of technology and technique," she said.

Slavcheva added that the successes of Bulgarian science would not have been possible without appropriate support. “For this reason, as a society, we should all be aware of the need for interaction between people from the spiritual sphere, politicians and industrialists,” she concluded.
