The war in Ukraine has claimed the lives of two Bessarabian Bulgarians from the Bolhrad region.

Alexander Doxov, born in 1990 in the Bulgarian village of Glavan, died in early May and was buried in his native village.

"It is with deep sadness that our municipality bids farewell to the serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Doxov. The Municipal Council expresses condolences to the family of the deceased," the website of the Municipal Council said.

Another Bessarabian Bulgarian died on the front in early May. The 52-year-old serviceman in the Ukrainian army, Vladimir Dimitrov, was a native of the Bulgarian village of Nova Ivanovka.

The Artsyz Municipal Council expressed condolences to the family of the deceased, the municipality's website reported.
