An official signing ceremony of a financing agreement under the Bulgarian Development Assistance Programme for 2025 was held in the village of Valea Perjei, Taraclia region. The document was signed by Bulgarian Ambassador in Chisinau Maya Dobreva and the mayor of the village, Ivan Nereuta.

The project, worth about BGN 61,000, provides for a major renovation of the local library, the funds being provided in the form of a grant from the Bulgarian state.

The planned works include replacement of windows, renovation of flooring, repair of the heating system, ceilings and walls. According to Mayor Nereuta, the implementation of the project will lead to a significant improvement of the conditions in the library and will create a more functional and welcoming space for the residents of the village.

According to the 2004 census data, the village of Valea Perjei has 4,986 residents, of which 76.05% are Bulgarians. The village was founded in 1816 by a group of Bulgarian settlers from the South Danube region. Local people claim that there were once many plum orchards planted in the valley. Hence the name of the village - Valea Perjei (vale means valley in Moldovan, perjei - plum).
