Dr. Ivan Duminika, a history scholar from Moldova, presented his study on church life of Bulgarians in Bessarabia in the period 1812-1918 to residents and guests of the municipality of Tvarditsa, Southeastern Bulgaria. The event brought together representatives of the local authorities, cultural institutions and people interested in the history and spiritual heritage of the Bessarabian Bulgarians.

Dr. Duminika presented the main points of his research, which traces the formation of church life among Bessarabian Bulgarians after 1812. Attention was paid to the construction of churches, the activities of priests, the use of the Bulgarian language in worship, and the cooperation between the church and schools in that period.

Ivan Duminika is a Moldovan historian of Bulgarian origin, born in 1988 in the town of Tvardita, Taraclia district. He holds a PhD in historical sciences, is a leading research fellow at the Institute of Cultural Heritage of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences, and is president of the scientific society of Bulgarians in Moldova. His scientific interests are focused on various problems of the recent history of the Bulgarian ethnic community in Bessarabia - from the second half of the 18th to the first half of the 20th century. In November 2023, he was appointed Head of the Office of Policies in the Field of Interethnic Relations at the Ministry of Education and Research of Moldova.
