Pupils from the St St Cyril and Methodius Bulgarian School in Valladolid, Spain, are visiting Bulgaria on an educational trip as part of the national programme Bulgaria - Educational Routes. The project is funded by this country’s Education and Science Ministry, the school said on Facebook.
Sharing footage from the first day of the trip, the teaching team said that they “will be visiting rebellious Bulgarian towns during the month when the April Uprising [of 1876] broke out”.
The pupils and teachers' itinerary includes stops in Sofia, Karlovo, Kalofer, Panagyurishte, Koprivshtitsa, and Plovdiv.
The St. St. Cyril and Methodius Bulgarian School operates under the Stara Planina association, which supports Bulgarian expatriates in Valladolid. In addition to teaching Bulgarian language, literature, history and geography, the school also organizes creative workshops and events celebrating national and folk holidays.
