Sonya Yoncheva Becomes Officer of French Order of Arts and Letters

Sonya Yoncheva was awarded the title of Officer of the French Order of Arts and Letters on Tuesday. The highest French state award was presented to her by the Ambassador of France to Bulgaria, Joel Meyer, on behalf of the French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati.

The ceremony was attended by Luc Levy, Director of the French Institute and adviser on cultural cooperation, Sofia Opera Director Plamen Kartalov, diplomats, relatives, friends and partners of the singer.

Before the award ceremony, the Ambassador presented an extensive biography of Yoncheva, her contributions to French culture and her successes as a singer. 

On her part, Yoncheva ecpressed her love for France and its culture and her excitement for the recognition and responsibility this honour brings to her, making her an ambassadors for French culture and art around the world.
