Bulgarian students won second place with their project at the International Space Development Conference (ISDC) in McLean, Virginia, organized by the National Space Society, the Bulgarian Embassy in Washington said on Facebook.
The Bulgarian students competed with more than 2,600 projects from over 14,600 students from 12 countries in the 12th Grade Large Group category. Their project, FlorAstra, is a concept for a space agriculture module on a station orbiting Ceres, designed to sustainably support 4,000 people through a closed-loop ecosystem. All visuals and 3D models were created by the students, with design inspiration drawn from the Bulgarian rose.
The Bulgarian Embassy in Washington congratulated the team on one of the most impressive student space projects globally and wished them future success.
