site.btaBulgarian Rose Association from Malaga Presents Bulgarian Traditions in Folklore Production

The amateur ensemble for Bulgarian folk songs and dances of the Bulgarian Rose Association in Malaga, Spain, will take part for the third consecutive year in the traveling gathering “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Hands,” the eleventh edition of which will be held from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, Germany.

“We will present our original stage production "Lube, lube, sevda goliama" as part of the gathering,” said Boyka Angelova, chair of the Association  in an interview for the “BG World” section of BTA.

She noted that both the choreography and production are original and were created to depict the way of life, beliefs, and spiritual strength of Bulgarians.

The Bulgarian Rose Association was founded in 2014 and brings together Bulgarians living in Malaga. According to Angelova, the organization actively works to preserve and promote Bulgarian traditions, culture, and folklore outside the country.

“With our participation in Munich, we continue our mission to preserve Bulgarian cultural identity and present it to the world,” Angelova added.

The association is also the organizer of the folklore gathering “Rose Magic” in Málaga, which has been encouraging performances by Bulgarian and international amateur groups since 2017.

The travelling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th edition in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
