The documentary film A Few Chunks of Cheese (2026) by director and screenwriter Nikola Boshnakov has been selected for the Zagreb Film Festival programme, the National Film Center (NFC) reported.
The documentary follows Mina, a farmer who through sheer persistence and relentless work, has managed to preserve her herd and her farm for more than thirty years. She has weathered the turbulent post-Communist transition of the 1990s, constant bureaucratic pressure, bird flu, and African swine fever. Today, Mina faces a choice: whether to leave behind the life she has built and step into a new role – that of a grandmother in Martha’s Vineyard, a luxury island off the US East Coast.
The film's cinematography is by Antoni Stoev, editing by Oleg Konstantinov and Nikola Boshnakov, and music by Ilko Gradev. A Few Chunks of Cheese was produced by Galina Toneva and Kiril Kirilov, with production by Gala Film.
