The Bulgarian Cultural Institute (BCI) in Berlin is organizing the 3rd Bulgarian Film Week from April 23 to 29, the Institute told BTA on Sunday. The festival will take place under the auspices of Bulgarian Ambassador to Germany Grigor Porozhanov. All screenings will begin at 8pm local time at KLICK Kino in Berlin (Windscheidstr. 19).

Admission is free, but due to the limited number of seats, advance registration is required at the email address: kontakt@klickkino.de , said BCI Berlin.

Film selector Yuri Dachev commented: "For the third time, under Berlin's unfading film sky, we will watch Bulgarian cinema over the course of seven evenings. And once again, the selected titles are not under the yoke of a concept imposed on them by force. What brings them together in the programme is a simple intention: that they are new and above all that they are good cinema. Of course, in both cases the notions are elastic, and the selector's choice is inevitably subject to debate. Especially when it comes to the definition of 'good cinema'. So let us debate then. But first let us watch. Let the evenings of the screenings become short: from shared excitement and surprise, from liking and rejection... From unexpected, small viewer discoveries under Berlin's film sky, which, they say, has seen everything..."

Below is the programme for the 3rd Bulgarian Film Week in Berlin, with the German title of each movie followed by the English title:

April 23: Der grausame Weg (The Cruel Way), 2025, directed by Deyan Bararev
April 24: Triumph (Triumph), 2024, directed by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov
April 25: Frühlings-Tagundnachtgleiche (Spring Equinox), 2022, directed by Ivan Pavlov
April 26: Weil ich das schlechte Wetter mag (Because I Love Bad Weather), 2024, directed by Yana Lekarska
April 27: Windless (Windless), 2024, directed by Pavel G. Vesnakov
April 28: Demütig (Humble), 2021, directed by Svetoslav Draganov
April 29: Der Hirte (Shepherd), 2024, directed by Milena Andonova

The Bulgarian Film Week will conclude with a jazz concert featuring Daniel Stavinski (piano) and Vladimir Karparov (saxophone). The concert will take place at KLICK Cafe on April 29 at 7pm local time.
