The Balgarska Rosa folklore dance group in Koblenz, Germany, will perform a dance from choreographer Dirk Schneider at the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling folklore festival, which will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, Germany.

"Most of the group members united around the idea of dancing to the music of this folklore song, because its music has a positive, optimistic influence, lifts the mood and was received by all of us very warmly,” said Nikolinka Georgieva, leader of the folklore ensemble, in an interview for BTA.

She emphasized that presenting a dance on the theme of love between young people is a mission. "Love is a message of peace, understanding and positive emotions. Love purifies and is a holiday for the soul. This is the message that we want to send to all participants and friends of the festival", Georgieva pointed out. The leader of the ensemble also noted that three generations of one family will be performing at the festival, including Rada Schmidt, who is the oldest member of Balgarska Rosa and turns 89 in 2026.

"Her motto is that she will sing and dance until she is 100 years old, and maybe even after that,” Georgieva said, adding that they are very happy that there is continuity in their ensemble and that the young people are following in the footsteps of their parents and grandparents. “We are calm about the future of the group, which currently has 22 members, among whom there are not only Bulgarians, but also Germans, Croats, a Japanese woman from Tokyo, and a Serb,” Georgieva pointed out.

The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th edition in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
