Bulgaria and 15 other EU Countries have offered assistance to Ukraine under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism with the consequences of the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam wall, the European Commission said.

The other countries that responded to Kiev's request to the EU for assistance are Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain and Sweden. All these countries have provided water tankers, pumps, boats, rescue equipment, power generators. The EC added that Ukraine will receive help from the European strategic stockpile, which includes mobile treatment plants. Each of these stations can produce 120,000 litres of clean water per day.

In support of the humanitarian activities on site, the EU has collected an additional  half a million EUR to meet the immediate needs, added the EC. The message notes that since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has received EUR 200 million in humanitarian aid from the EU.
