The southern part of Ukraine’s Odesa region came under drone attack again overnight, Oleh Kiper, Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, said on Telegram, adding that civilian infrastructure was targeted. According to preliminary information, two people were killed and two others were injured, he reported.

Despite the active work of air defense units, there was damage to civilian sites, Kiper noted.

As a result of the strike, five trucks caught fire. The blaze was quickly brought under control.

Odesa is currently hosting a Bulgarian delegation comprising Parliamentary Committee on Direct Participation of Citizens, Citizens’ Complaints and Interaction with Civil Society Chair Rositsa Kirova, Deputy Minister of Culture Ashot Kazaryan, Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Director General Kiril Valchev, and Bulgarian folk singer Ilia Lukov. The occasion for the visit were the celebrations marking the Day of the Bessarabian Bulgarians and National Awakeners' Day. The Week of Bulgarian Culture in Odesa, dedicated to the Day of the Bessarabian Bulgarians, took place from October 27 to November 1 and was organized by the Department of International Cooperation, Culture, and Marketing of the Odesa City Council, the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Odesa, BTA, and the O. Salik Odesa Municipal Music Theatre.

Odesa Region is home to the third largest community of expatriate Bulgarians, numbering more than 150,000 people, according to an official population census in Ukraine in 2001. Between 50,000 and 60,000 Bulgarians live in the regional capital, Odesa. Bulgarians in the region are concentrated in the districts of Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi.
