Ideologies suffered a collapse in the latest parliamentary elections, while the desire for stability and long-term governance prevailed, Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov said on Tuesday at a press conference held by the Vazrazhdane party on the results of the April 19 vote.
Progressive Bulgaria won 44.6% of the votes, according to Central Election Commission data based on 100% of tally sheets processed. That ensures the coalition will have a comfortable majority in the new National Assembly.
"The outcome is not surprising and is to some extent predictable," Kostadinov said, adding that this could help bring an end to the cycle of political instability over the past five years since 2021.
He congratulated the winning formation, which, in his words, "for better or worse, will carry Bulgaria’s fate over the next few years." According to him, this is positive because there will be no other coalition partners, and negative because there will be no excuses and no one to obstruct.
Kostadinov thanked voters who remained loyal to Vazrazhdane’s ideology and cause. Addressing left-wing voters, he said they could rely on Vazrazhdane and be confident they would have political representation in parliament.
