During a specialized police operation conducted by officers of the Devnya Regional Office, a British citizen with permanent residence status in Bulgaria, known to the police, was detained in a house in the village of Padina, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Varna said.

A subsequent inspection of the house he lived in found that he had set up a room with lamps, fans and heating devices, necessary for growing and drying green plants.

After the confiscation and examination of the plants, authorities confirmed that they were of the hemp genus. They were in different stages of development, fresh and dry herbaceous mass was found.

Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case. The man has been detained for a period of 24 hours.
