Against the backdrop of the upcoming local elections in Turkiye on March 31, the number and profile of voters were presented by the opposition newspaper "Sozcu".

Only Turkish citizens with residency status in the country are eligible to vote in the local elections, and their total number is 61,438,382.

In the past ten months since the presidential elections in May last year, the number of voters has increased by 12,371.

There were 60,157,680 Turkish-born voters. The number of foreign-born Turkish voters is 1,280,702 from 168 different countries. Those born in Germany rank first (233,791), followed by those from Syria (225,068).

In third place in this category are voters who were born in Bulgaria. Their number is 210,996, the newspaper says.
