Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Toiu took part in a working meeting with heads of EU Member State missions accredited in Bucharest. Bulgaria's Ambassador to Romania, Radko Vlaykov, was also present, according to a press release from the Foreign Ministry sent to the BTA correspondent bureau. The event was organized in the context of Denmark's rotating presidency of the EU Council.

The discussion focused on EU security and defence, support for Ukraine and Moldova, EU enlargement, the EU's strategic approach to the Black Sea, European competitiveness, the EU's future Multiannual Financial Framework, and strengthening democratic resilience.

During the meeting, Toiu emphasized Romania's support for the continuation of peace efforts, for the multilateral European assistance provided to Ukraine, and for the recovery and consolidation of the country's internal resilience. She also expressed Romania's full solidarity with Poland following the violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones.

In this context, the Foreign Minister highlighted Romania's focus on strengthening Eastern flank security and swiftly implementing the EU Black Sea Strategy through joint development of a Black Sea Maritime Security Hub and related projects.

Toiu also noted the reinforcement of defence resources, the promotion of European competitiveness, and the EU's key role in relations with eastern partners via trade partnerships and integration with other regions of the world.

"Romania sets priority on the development of regional projects for connectivity with the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and other regional partners, such as the Vertical Gas Corridor," she added.

The meeting also focused on Romania's support for Ukraine's and Moldova's European integration, and on coordinating EU Member States' efforts to safeguard upcoming elections against foreign interference and hybrid threats.
