An excavator operator has died after suffering severe burns in an accident at the Arsenal weapons and ammunition plant in Kazanlak on Wednesday. The information was confirmed for BTA Friday by the prosecution service in Stara Zagora.
The 53-year-old man operated a front loader in the Arsenal complex on August 20 when a fire broke out behind the machine, the company reported. The flames spread onto the machine and the operator suffered burns. He was admitted to the St. George University Hospital in the regional capital Plovdiv the same day but died the next day. The cause of death was extensive burns, leading to heart failure.
An investigation is underway.
