The National Museum of Military History in Sofia will mark the Day of Valour and the Bulgarian Armed Forces (May 6) by offering free admission to its visitors and hosting a series of festive events, the management said.

People will have a chance to view the museum’s permanent indoor and outdoor expositions and two temporary shows titled The Scars of War: The Lost Architectural Heritage of Sofia and The Bulgarian Army – 20 Years Part of NATO, all of them at no charge.

On May 6, weather permitting, visitors will be allowed to climb into the cockpits of the Mi-2 and Mi-8 helicopters and the 2K 52 FROG Luna tactical ballistic missile complex displayed in the yard of the museum.

They will be able to taste traditional bean soup prepared by a military chef, take a close look at a present-day field kitchen and get an idea about a soldier’s routine. The Land Forces Brass Band will perform in the afternoon on May 6.

The museum’s branches in Varna (Naval Museum, Vladislav Varnenchik Park Museum) and Krumovo (Aviation Museum) will hold an open day.
