Radoslava Nedyalkova, Chair of the Association of Bulgarian Ensembles Abroad, spoke at the opening of the 10th "Na Megdana na Drugata Bulgaria" folklore festival in Lyon, France. She emphasized her deep personal connection to the event, saying she has followed it from the beginning and supports it wholeheartedly.
Nedyalkova explained that the idea for the Association was born during a past edition of the festival to create a space for Bulgarian cultural groups abroad to share experiences and support one another. She expressed pride in the Association’s role and its support for the festival’s growth.
She also announced plans for a new folklore festival in Bulgaria, set for July in Veliko Tarnovo (North-central Bulgaria), which will feature Bulgarian groups based abroad. Her aim is to reconnect with the homeland and showcase the ongoing cultural work of the Bulgarian diaspora.
She invited all performers present to take part in this future event, expressing hope for ongoing editions and stronger cultural ties between Bulgarians abroad and at home.
The 10th festival mottoed "Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance" (Une ronde autour du monde) opened at the Palais des Sports in Lyon, France, on Friday. The event is hosted by the organizers of the first gathering in 2015, the Lyon-based Ot Izvora Bulgarian folk group, led by Anita Ekenova.
