Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman has issued a proclamation declaring May 24 Republic of Bulgaria Day, Bulgarian Consul General in Los Angeles Boyko Hristov told BTA. On May 24, Bulgaria observes the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and Slav Letters.

This is happening for the second consecutive year on the Bulgarian diplomatic representative's initiative, which aims to officially recognize the contribution of the Bulgarian diaspora to building the cultural image of Las Vegas. The proclamation of May 24 as Republic of Bulgaria Day is the result of the excellent relations that Hristov has built with the local authorities in Las Vegas and is a consequence of his landmark meeting with Mayor Carolyn Goodman in December 2022, the Consulate General in Los Angeles said. 

During their meeting, the Consul General briefed Goodman on Bulgaria and the Bulgarian diaspora, which has a very active presence and organized social and cultural life in the city.
