site.btaDefence Minister: Ukraine Could Not Have Used Bulgarian Military Supplies at Belgorod
The Ukrainian Armed Forces could not have used armament and equipment from Bulgaria's military-technical assistance at Belgorod, Bulgarian Defence Minister Todor Tagarev said during Friday's Question Time in Parliament. In his words, it is only the Russian side who are claiming that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have participated in attacks against Belgorod Region, and these claims are questionable given the large-scale use of disinformation and fake news by fake media and official sources.
Official sources on the Ukrainian side confirm that Ukrainian military have not taken part in the attacks in Belgorod; the Russian volunteers opposing Kremlin's aggression are acting on their own, and the Ukrainian side is just monitoring the process, Tagarev told the MPs.
Under the December 2022 agreement between Bulgaria and Ukraine on military assistance, Ukraine must use the military equipment in accordance with the UN Charter, international law in the area of human rights and international humanitarian law solely for the goals listed in the European Peace Facility and the other relevant EU acts. The Bulgarian side does not bear responsibility for the property provided, Tagarev argued.
Bulgaria supports Ukraine's legitimate efforts to oppose the Russian aggression and restore its territorial integrity, he added. Bulgaria is participating and contributing proportionately to the shared allied efforts within the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
