Three Bulgarians Rank among Top 64 at 2024 Junior and Cadet Fencing World Championships

Vasil Ivakimov, Rahim Rashaida and Alexander Kostadinov ranked among the top 64 in the junior sabre at the 2024 Junior and Cadet Fencing World Championships in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The tournament featured 215 competitors from 72 countries, with Ivakimov sharing 39th place with Nok Man Yuen (Hong Kong), Rashaida finishing 48th and Kostadinov 54th. The fourth Bulgarian in the individual competition, Yavor Denchev, did not make it out of the groups and shared the 204-206th position with Peter Kruger (South Africa) and Akmal Moidunov (Kyrgyzstan).

The girls' fencing tournament had 169 competitors from 61 countries. Bulgaria was represented by four fencers, with the best ranking recorded by Viktoria Velislavova, who came 66th. Michaela Stefanova was 81st, Raya Yagova 90th and Boryana Mitova 132nd.

Velislavova, Stefanova and Yagova made it out of the groups and qualified for the direct eliminations, where they lost their first matches.
