The Bulgarian diplomatic mission in Nigeria has been honoured with an Award of Excellence as the Best Embassy in Support of Commerce and Culture for 2024. The award was presented to Ambassador Yanko Yordanov by Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Emeka Obegolu during a ceremony in Abuja, the Bulgarian Embassy said on Facebook.
Preliminary data for 2024 indicate a growth of over 70% in bilateral trade, including a 60% increase in Bulgarian exports to Nigeria, the Embassy said, adding that this is the highest level seen in the past 15 years.
In his speech, Emeka Obegolu said that Bulgaria was picked for this award because of the successful cooperation between the Embassy and the Chamber, which has resulted in significant business partnerships, strategic initiatives and a positive impact on the business environment between the two countries.
The ceremony was attended by more than 70 official guests, including representatives of leading Nigerian companies, government institutions and diplomatic missions. Among them were the Director-General of the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization, Aisha Adamu Augie, and the head of the Ecological Project Office, Aishetu Ndayako.
